What we collect

Only what you hand us at the form, plus how you respond to what we send. That is your email address, which site and which form you signed up on, any interests you selected, a record of the notice you were shown and when you accepted it, and summaries of your own engagement with our email, such as whether you opened or clicked.

There are no accounts on this site.

We may sell and share it

Plainly: Future Think Labs may use, combine, sell, or share the categories above with commercial partners for personalized marketing and offers. We are telling you here, at the point you hand it over, rather than in a footnote.

Every category listed above is first-party data you gave us or generated with us. We do not buy lists, and we do not append third-party data onto your record.

Who receives it

Affiliates under common control with Future Think Labs.

Service providers who run things on our behalf, such as the mail platform, under contract and only for that work.

Commercial partners, including advertising, marketing, media, analytics, travel, hospitality, food, sports, entertainment, retail and technology businesses.

Anyone we are legally required to disclose to, or where disclosure is necessary for safety.

A buyer or successor if the business or the relevant assets change hands.

Recipients may use, disclose, and resell the data onward for the purposes described below, including to their own partners. That permission is not unconditional: it is limited to the categories and purposes named on this page, and every recipient must carry your privacy choices with it.

Choices travel with the data

A recipient may only take the data on terms that bind it, and anyone it passes the data to, to the same duties we hold: honor an opt out of sale and sharing, honor an unsubscribe, honor a deletion request, and honor suppression.

We keep the ability to push those instructions downstream after the fact. If you opt out, unsubscribe or delete tomorrow, we can and will propagate that to recipients who already hold your record, and they are required to apply it and to pass it on again.

What they use it for

Partner marketing, audience insight, measurement, and developing offers worth sending you.

Partner money never buys a kitchen a seat

This is the important one. Partner money and partner data never buy placement, ranking, or featured position in anything taco.vegas publishes. No kitchen can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to stay on. The editorial list is decided on the food and the hours, and it is not for sale at any price.

taco.vegas earns no commission on anything it links to today. There are no affiliate links and no sponsored placements. Outbound links open a map. If that ever changes, the link that pays us will say so next to the link itself.

What we do not collect

We do not store raw IP addresses in the subscriber record. We do not collect phone numbers and we do not send SMS. We do not collect precise location. We do not collect sensitive personal information. We do not knowingly collect from anyone under 16, and we do not sell or share data we know belongs to someone under 16.

Your choices

You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your email at any time, without an account, on the Your Privacy Choices page. Opting out and unsubscribing take nothing but the address itself, because putting a wall in front of a right defeats it.

Access, correction and deletion work differently. Those either hand over a record or destroy one, so we confirm the address is yours before we act. Usually that is one click in a confirmation email; occasionally we will ask a person. We are not asking you to prove who you are, only that you hold the address.

We honor these choices globally, for everyone who asks, regardless of where you live or whether a law where you live requires it.

We honor Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends the signal when you sign up, that signup is recorded as opted out of sale and sharing from that moment, with nothing else for you to do. The signal travels with the browser, not with your record, so it cannot reach back and change a signup you made earlier without it. To apply the choice to a record you already have, use the Your Privacy Choices page once and it sticks.

What unsubscribing actually does

Unsubscribing stops commercial email across the whole Future Think Labs network, not just the site you signed up on, and it takes effect immediately.

It also makes your address unsellable and untransferable. Once you unsubscribe we will not sell, share or transfer that address to anyone, with one exception: a compliance vendor whose only job is to keep you suppressed.

Deletion goes further and removes the linked marketing and export data. We keep a one-way hash of your address permanently, only so a later import cannot put you back on a list you left.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to a list of email addresses. No service can promise perfect security and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
